make a difference in minutes

Are you feeling guilty about the trees that were cut down in order to create the books sitting on your bookshelf? For your donation of just $5, ECO LIBRIS will plant five trees in a developing country. You'll help the environment and the country's local economy. Want to learn more about Eco Libris, visit their WEBSITE or read more about their vision for the future here:
"Books are everywhere, just look around: on bookshelves at home, in college students' backpacks, in the mail from the book club or in that pile in your room right now. For some people they’re for education, for others they’re an entertaining escapade and for some, reading is really a passion. Eco-Libris is for everyone. It is a green business that enables people to do something reasonable, affordable yet with an impact: plant one tree for every book they read. We believe that taking responsibility for the environmental costs of the books we read is only natural. We strive for a world where reading books doesn’t have adverse effects on the environment, and therefore our mission is to make reading much more sustainable than it is today. We are committed to doing our best for this to happen as quickly as possible. This is why we decided to aim high and to set a challenging goal for ourselves: we want to balance out half a million books by the end of 2008.
Eventually (and hopefully sooner then later), books will be made from recycled paper or other eco-friendly materials. But till then, we can still do something to make the world greener. We hope not only to see more trees being planted, but that the Eco-Libris sticker you get to put on the books you balance out will inspire you to keep looking for more ways to make a difference.
We invite you to join us now and share in our vision of a better world."

awesome eco biz
Our Planet Retreats, the company behind the innovative bubble-style treehouse spheres, is expanding their business and selling off shares to grow. It’s an exciting opportunity for anyone that’s ever wanted to be involved on the ground floor of an awesome eco-biz. INHABIT lays out some of the details:
To get involved the steps are simple. Buy a share or buy a sphere. One share costs $30 and one simple, unfurnished sphere costs $2,500. Fully furnished spheres are also available at a higher price tag. Once Our Planet Retreats has raised $55,000, the first retreat will start paying back dividends and they’ll start opening additional eco-resorts.
These spheres are being setup in some of the most beautiful places on the planet. Each eco-resort will have 12 spheres — so essentially, you’ll be buying in to own a piece of that resort. If you choose to buy a sphere, you’ll have exclusive access to it for 70% of the year. Imagine that? A great (small) second home for only $2,500 in some beautiful location! What a deal!
Check out more details on these spheres (which sleep 4 people) by clicking HERE.

physicians formula organic line
I have never understood why PHYSICIANS FORMULA COSMETICS is not as popular as Revlon, Maybeline or Cover Girl. Could have something to do with the fact that they don't pay ridiculous sums of money to place television adverts. I really can't think of any other reason. Their line of quality cosmetics have always been, in my opinion, a good bang for your buck - not to mention the fact that their packaging is fun and interesting.
Well now they've really outdone themselves with a USDA CERTIFIED ORGANIC LINE of cosmetics and self tanners. Like Burt's Bees, not all their products in this line are 100% organic, but they do give you the courtesy of letting you know that. Take for example their liquid bronzer, although 100% Free of Harsh Chemicals, Synthetic Preservatives, Parabens, GMO's, Synthetic Colors and Fragrances, is only 84% Organic with ingredients such as jojoba seed oil, sunflower seed oil, avocado oil, and shea butter to moisturize the skin.
Even still, compared to all the other self tanners on the market these days, that are not only expensive but chock full of things that are NOT GOOD FOR YOU OR YOUR COMPLEXION, this is an excellent quality bronzer at an average cost of just $10.95.

how to make your own scouring scrub
You don't have to spend a lot of money to green your home. For example, everything you need to make your own scouring scrub is most likely already in your kitchen. Made with baking soda, vinegar and 10-12 drops of your favorite essential oil blend, this simple formula comes from green living expert Laura Klein of ORGANIC AUTHORITY.
According to Laura, vinegar is an anti-bacterial that kills 99% of all bacteria, 82% of mold and 80% of germs and viruses. So what are you waiting for!
Here's what you need to make enough to last you a couple of months:
* 2 cups of water
* 2 cups of baking soda
* ½ cup of white distilled vinegar
* 10-12 drops of essential oil (You can find these at your local healthfood store on or online.
This all natural, toxic free cleaner can be used as a cleaning agent for bath tubs, toilets, sinks and anything else on which you would typically use an abrasive 'conventional' cleaner.
According to the EPA, indoor pollution levels are typically higher then those outside your home, and traditional, chemical-filled cleaning products are contributors to this indoor pollution problem.

can buying a six dollar shirt help the environment?
WALMART has really outdone itself this time by offering an entire line of GREEN PRODUCTS at reasonable prices. I have been looking for an ORGANIC BLANKET for my son for some time, one that would not break the bank, and at last I've found it! This blanket is made from 100% sheared organic cotton and measures 30" x 45". Organically grown free of pesticides, bleach and dyes, it sells for a very reasonable $24.98. Interested in products for yourself, you'll find everything from household cleaners, appliances and clothing to pet supplies and even organic coffee!
Additionally buying "transitional" cotton clothing from Walmart, like their select GLORY T-SHIRTS, helps support and encourage farmers to make the switch to more environmentally friendly, organic farming techniques. Transitional cotton is grown without harmful fertilizers or pesticides.
